ELF Nourishing Oil to Foam Cleanser Review

I’ve got a quick review on the ELF Oil to Foam cleanser today, and I’m really excited to fill you guys in on it because I actually really really REALLY don’t like this product.

I ordered this on ELF’s website, and the whole experience was honestly not very great. All of my products were just rolling around in a brown cardboard box with my crinkled sales receipt thrown on top. I wish they would add some bubble wrap or some packing peanuts or something to keep everything in the box, and I really wish that they would have added in a little card or pamphlet to give it a more personalized touch. But I get that it’s ELF and it’s cheap makeup, so I guess I shouldn’t have been expecting too much.

This was $10 from the ELF website, and this is honestly such a pricey product!! My Simple Moisturizing cleanser that I absolutely love from the drugstore comes with the same amount of product for just over $5, so this is literally two times the price of the cleanser I usually buy. On the up side, I absolutely love the packaging of this product! It is so sleek and minimal and I love the blue-green tint of the bottle. It definitely reminds me of the Clinique face wash both in the packaging and the scent of the product. Unfortunately, that’s about the only positive I have to mention today.

The ELF website lists this as the description for this product, “Infused with shea butter, jojoba, mango, and olive oil, this Nourishing Oil to Foam Cleanser nurtures the skin as it gently removes dirt, pollutants, and makeup. Get refreshed and healthy skin with every use.” I’ve used this product first thing when I step in the shower on a dry face to remove my makeup, as stated in the directions of the product. I’ve tried both applying the oil straight to my face and rubbing it around to lather as well as lathering the oil in my hands and then applying it to my face that way.

Since this says right in the description that this is for removing makeup, that’s the main purpose I purchased this for. However, this is HORRIBLE at removing makeup. Every single time I have used this to remove my makeup, I’ve had mascara smudges all over my eyes and nose and I’ve had leftover foundation and concealer on my under-eyes and chin. Even when I wash my face TWO TIMES back to back with this product, I still have makeup remnants all over my face when I get out of the shower. I always have to follow up with another product after I use this.

I wish that was the end of it, but we’re just getting started.

The actual application of this product is really difficult to work with. This comes out as a super liquidy water-like oil, and it runs right off my hand while trying to get my hand to my face to lather it up. I end up wasting a lot of product every time I use this because it’s just so liquidy.

I also find that this leaves my skin feelig SUPER tight after I cleanse with it. I definitely have to follow up with a heavy duty moisturizer.

This does make my skin feel like I have a light film on my face. I really do feel like my skin is slightly tacky and sticky right after I wash my face with this.

So basically, this is the worst cleanser I’ve ever used. I love the packaging, but everything else about this is pretty terrible in my book. I wish I had a better review for this because I really was super excited to try this out, but now I’m stuck with a bottle of $10 cleanser that I’m never going to use again.

Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

Best and Worst of ELF Cosmetics!

I’m so excited for today’s post! This is going to be a brand focus on everything I’ve tried from ELf Cosmetics! This is going to be all makeup, and I’m planning on doing another post focusing on skincare and tools, and a third post on their makeup brushes!

Mad for Matte Palette

First up is the Mad for Matte Palette! For me, this is kind of a hit and miss product. The shadows themselves are super buttery and blendable, but the colors all kind of blend into one color for me (which is saying something because I’m super pale). I wouldn’t buy this again, but I do think it’s worth trying if you have a smaller collection and want to expand your range of mattes.

Eyeshadow Primer

As far as eyeshadow primers go, this isn’t my favorite! I find this to be kind of oily on the lids, much like the Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. It’s only $1, but I would skip this one.

Clear Brow & Lash Mascara

This is such an awesome brow gel for only a dollar! I used this stuff for YEARS until I got hooked on tinted brow gel, and I would totally recommend this!

Eyeshadow Quad

I used to use this little eyeshadow quad for years before I could afford to buy high end palettes, and they are pretty good quality shadows! I wouldn’t say they’re as good as the larger palettes that ELF has out now, but they are better than a lot of other drugstore shadows!

Glitter Primer

I like this primer a lot more than their normal eyeshadow primer! This is a lot tackier and helps hold the shadow on a lot longer! I haven’t tried this with glitter, but I’m sure it would be perfect for that!

Matte Lip Color

This lipstick is a really good formula! I really like the color range they have, and it’s a super comfortable matte. The shade “Natural” is so beautiful!

Lip Exfoliator

This is such a steal from ELF! I love the packaging of this and I love that I don’t have to dip my finger into a little pot and use my finger to scrub my lips. This is so quick and convenient for every day use, and it smells and tastes great too!
Luscious Liquid Lipstick

I really like the packaging of this lipstick, but the formula wasn’t my favorite! I probably wouldn’t buy this again, but I think for $1 it’s definitely than any lipsticks you’ll find at the Dollar Tree.

Mineral Infused Face Primer

This is kind of a dud for me! I think it’s a good primer if you like silicone primers, but I really don’t! This would probably be a pretty dang close dupe to the Smashbox Primer, and I think a lot of people would like this if you’re okay with silicone.

Blush & Bronzer Duo

Who didn’t have this back in the day!? I thought this was a perfect little duo to have a compact blush and bronzer when traveling! They’ve come out with multiple colors since I owned this, so you can pick and choose which one works best for you!

Baked Highlighter “Moonlit Pearls”

This is my most recent buy from ELF, and I’m absolutely obsessed with it! You have to scrape off the top layer to get the “baked” film off, but once that’s gone, this is one of the most beautiful highlights ever!

What are some of your favorites from ELF? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, and I’ll see you soon!

HAUL – ELF, L’Oréal + MORE!

I’ve got a quick haul today of some goodies that I recently picked up! I hit an awesome sale at Walgreens (buy one get one 50% on L’Oréal plus $7 worth of coupons on eye and face products as well as a couple of items marked down on clearance!) and I placed an order on ELF’s website (my first order from their website actually!) and I also have a couple of random things I picked up from Target. I’m super excited about all of these new goodies, so let’s go ahead and jump into what I got!

L’Oréal Butterfly Sculpt Mascara

This mascara is so unique, but it really does build up so much volume and length! The Want only has bristles on one side so you can really comb through your lashes with this.

L’Oréal Magic BB Cream

This used to be my holy grail BB Cream, so I thought I would pick it up again for spring and summer and give it another go.

L’Oréal Lumi Highlighter “Ice”

I picked up this highlight because it was marked down from $12.99 to $6.49 and I also had a $2 off coupon (so I totally got this $13 highlight for $4.50!!!). This is such a beautiful color and it looks awesome on my pale skin!

L’Oréal Infalliable Shadow “Amber Rush”

This single shadow has been on my wishlist for a long time, and it’s absolutely STUNNING! I got this half off and had a $2 coupon, so it went from $8.99 down to $2.49!! I absolutely LOVE this shade, and this is going to be a go-to for me.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

Confession time: I’ve become super lazy about taking my makeup off. Most nights, I would rather sleep in my makeup than get up and hunt down my makeup remover cloth, get it wet, and scrub my makeup off. I decided that I wanted to get a pack of makeup wipes for nights that I just don’t want to bother (most nights let’s be real) so I could keep them at my bedside table and grab them before falling asleep (no more excuses if they’re sitting right there).  I picked up some of these Simple wipes because I remember really liking them and long story short, I’m so glad I decided to get a pack of these because they’re awesome! I’ve been loving how easily these take off my makeup and they make my skin feel so clean and wonderful.

Wet n Wild Shadow “Brûlée”

I picked up yet another one of Wet n Wild’s single shadows in the shade Brule. This is a perfect skin color for me, and I love to use this to set my eyeshadow primer every single day so that the other shadows blend easier (it only makes sense that powder eyeshadow would blend better when put on top of powder rather than laid onto the sticky primer directly). This is such a buttery shadow and I’ve purchased it probably 3 or 4 different times over the years.

ELF Lip Exfoliator “Coconut”

I picked up the ELF Lip exfoliator because I’ve heard so many good things about it over the years and I really wanted to try it out! I love how convenient it is in the lipstick tube so that you don’t have to reach into a little pot and dig out the product with your fingers.

ELF Selfie Ready Foundation Blurring Brush

My favorite ELF foundation brush is starting to get really ratty looking, so I figured I would pick up a new one and I decided to try out one from the Selfie Ready line.

ELF Eyebrow Duo Brush

I’ve been wanting the Anastasia dual ended eyebrow brush, so when I saw that ELF had a dupe for it, I immediately went online and ordered it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my quick little haul today! Stay tuned for upcoming favorites posts to hear more about some of these items. Let me know if there’s anything in particular that you want to see a full review post on! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!
