Makeup and Beauty Swap – Haul!

If you've been here for any length of time, you'll know that I do pretty frequent declutters of my makeup collection (part 1, 2, and 3.) I've been making a pile of everything that was in very good or new condition to take to my cousins, and since they live about an hour away, the pile was getting pretty huge.

Well I'm happy to report that I finally took my massive Sephora bag down to them, and my older cousin actually went through her makeup and beauty drawer so we could do a little bit of swapping this time around.

We both subscribe to ipsy, so she had a lot of samples that I've already tried out, as well as some bold lip colors that I've restricted myself to only owning 2 or 3 of, so I passed on some of those as well. (Luckily we have no shortage of other cousins to take everything off our hands) I still ended up grabbing a pretty good sized haul of things and I thought it would be fun if I showed you what I swapped!

ColourPop Gel Liner Pencil

I was so jealous when I saw that my cousin got this in her ipsy, so I was really excited when she decided to pass it on to me. I've used it once and haven't had any problems, so hopefully this ends up being a holy grail for me.

Pacifica Palette "Island Life"

I'm super excited to test out this little palette from Pacificia because these are actually all-natural mineral shadows! They all swatch really well except for the golden shade, so hopefully I'll fall in love with it!

Manna Kadar Eyeshadow Duo

This is a bronzer highlight duo, but I thought it would be perfect for a super quick eyeshadow look! I'm excited to play with this on lazy days or mornings when I'm running late.

Naked Cosmetics Banana HD Finishing Powder

My cousin has beautiful tan olive skin, but this banana powder looked kind of crazy on her, so she thought maybe my fair skin would suit it better. I've never tried a banana powder, so I'm excited to bake this under my eyes!

BioRepublic Sheet Masks "Green Tea Detox" and "Aloe Rescue"

I'm always down to use some sheet masks, so I was excited that she decided she didn't want these! I love using these to unwind and relax or putting one on when my skin is extra dry or breaking out.

Marc Anthony Aloe Vera Jasmine Deep Conditioner

I LOVED the original Marc Anthony deep conditioner that comes in the blue and yellow bottle, so I was SO EXCITED when she gave me the Aloe Jasmine scent. This smells even better than I thought it would, and I'm so happy to have another tube of Marc Anthony deep conditioner to use.

Theorie Hair Oil Treatment

This hair oil looks pretty basic as far as hair oils are concerned, but it has a very nice professional salon scent to it, so hopefully it'll impress me. I'm really glad my cousin isn't a fan of super deep moisturizing hair products, because I'm more than happy to take oils and conditioners off her hands!

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave In Conditioner Spray

I love Briogeo, and I love leave in conditioner sprays, so I'm very excited to give this a shot. It smells incredible, and this is totally up my alley!

Bare Republic Dry Shampoo Powder

I am beyond excited to try out this loose dry shampoo powder. This claims to be 83.99% all-natural! It's obviously not as good as being 100% all-natural, but I'm sure that 84% is definitely 84% more natural than my Batiste Dry Shampoo, so at least it's a start. Hopefully this doesn't leave a horrible white residue in my hair, but we'll see!

This swap was so fun for me, and I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing what I got! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll see you next time!

My Top 5 Nail Polishes

Welcome back to my top 5 series! Today I'm sharing a bonus edition of my top 5 and I'm branching away from makeup to talk about nail polishes! These are my top 5 favorite nail polish colors and formulas! Let's get into it:

5. Adesse "Surfer Girl"

This is such a beautiful bright blue color for spring and summer, and I've been obsessed with it since I got it in my May Ipsy bag. The reason this got number 5 is because the formula isn't the greatest and this chips pretty fast, but the color really is incredible.

4. Trust Fund Beauty "I'm Kind of a Big Deal"

This is another polish that I got in an ipsy bag, and I love this beautiful barbie pink color for my toes all spring and summer long. The formula of this polish is really good, too.

3. OPI "Bubble Bath"

This is a gorgeous sheer pink color that I actually wore on my wedding day! This makes your nails look shiny and pink and I find that my nails look like acrylic nails when I'm wearing this polish.

2. OPI "Stop It I'm Blushing"

This is the opaque color of Bubble Bath, and this gives such a beautiful pastel pale pink color to the nails. This would be number one if it had a better formula, but this honestly chips so fast!

1. Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel "Stay Classy"

My number one favorite nail polish is Wet n Wild's Stay Classy! This lasts a whole week on my nails and is such a beautiful dusty rose shade that is so neutral and goes with any outfit! I especially love this shade in the winter and early spring.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my top 5 nail polishes! What's your favorite nail polish? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so so much for stopping by my blog today, and I'll see you next time!

July Ipsy Unboxing

I'm back with another ipsy bag, and this time we're getting into my July goodies!

I honestly hate this month's bag design so much, and this is going straight to Goodwill. I prefer when ipsy sends out bags with cute patterns that I can put into my purse as a little makeup bag, so goofy designs like this one really bother me. It's totally cool if that's your thing, but I personally don't like it!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Cleanser

I actually almost bought this cleanser about a month ago, so I was so excited when I saw that I would be getting this as a sample this month! Although this sample is kind of teeny, I like that ipsy included it!

Seraphine Botanicals Lychee + Gold Blush

This is such a pretty blush color! It kind of reminds me of theBalm's Frat Boy blush but with shimmer in it.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

I was excited to try this moisturizer, but I'm super annoyed at how little product came in this tube! This is halfway empty!! What gives, ipsy?

Beau Gachis Illuminator Brush

I'm planning on using this brush as an undereye setting brush instead of a highlighting brush, but I'm super excited that I got another brush, and I've been really impressed with the Beau Gachis line.

OFRA Eyeshadow "Victory"

This is a super dark brown coppery shade, and it's not something that I'm ever going to wear. If I'm reaching for a dark brown, it's going to be matte. So for that reason, I'm going to probably just pass this on.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this month's ipsy bag and all of the samples I got. This wasn't my favorite, but the blush and the face wash are pretty exciting. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll see you next time!

My Top 5 Lipsticks

I’m back with another installment in my top 5 series! Today we are going to be talking about lipsticks. I’m not a huge lip product person, and I didn’t really get into lipsticks much until the last year or so, so because of that, most of my lip products are drugstore (because I’d rather not spend a ton of money on lip products and instead splurge on things like eyeshadow palettes and blushes). Let’s get into my list!

5. Milani “Matte Naked” Lipstick

This is a newer lip product to my collection, but I love the formula and the shade. This is from Milani’s matte line, and I really want to pick up some more shades.

4. ColourPop Lippie Stix “Aquarius” + Smashbox Insta Matte Topcoat

This is one of the most gorgeous lipsticks I own, but I have to use it with this Smashbox Insta Matte topcoat, otherwise it would be closer to the top of my list. I love this color, and the formula is awesome when paired with the top coat.

3. ELF Matte Lipstick “Natural”

This is such a beautiful natural color in a very soft matte formula. I say soft matte because it isn’t harsh and drying like a lot of other matte lipsticks. This is extremely comfortable and wears for a very long time.

2. Makeup Forever Artist Rouge “N9”

This is my favorite lipstick that isn’t a liquid lipstick. It’s comfortable and very creamy on the lips. This is probably the most comfortable lip product I own, and I can use this in place of a balm because of how moisturizing it is.

1. Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit “Rebel Rose”

This is my all time favorite lipstick! This is such an incredible formula, and it wears for 10+ hours. It’s comfortable, ultra matte, and lasts longer than anything else I’ve ever tried. I also absolutely adore the color of this as well. It’s like a darker version of my lips, and it’s so beautiful!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my top 5 lipsticks! Be sure to check out all of my other top 5 posts here on my blog, and I’ll see you real soon!

ELF Nourishing Oil to Foam Cleanser Review

I’ve got a quick review on the ELF Oil to Foam cleanser today, and I’m really excited to fill you guys in on it because I actually really really REALLY don’t like this product.

I ordered this on ELF’s website, and the whole experience was honestly not very great. All of my products were just rolling around in a brown cardboard box with my crinkled sales receipt thrown on top. I wish they would add some bubble wrap or some packing peanuts or something to keep everything in the box, and I really wish that they would have added in a little card or pamphlet to give it a more personalized touch. But I get that it’s ELF and it’s cheap makeup, so I guess I shouldn’t have been expecting too much.

This was $10 from the ELF website, and this is honestly such a pricey product!! My Simple Moisturizing cleanser that I absolutely love from the drugstore comes with the same amount of product for just over $5, so this is literally two times the price of the cleanser I usually buy. On the up side, I absolutely love the packaging of this product! It is so sleek and minimal and I love the blue-green tint of the bottle. It definitely reminds me of the Clinique face wash both in the packaging and the scent of the product. Unfortunately, that’s about the only positive I have to mention today.

The ELF website lists this as the description for this product, “Infused with shea butter, jojoba, mango, and olive oil, this Nourishing Oil to Foam Cleanser nurtures the skin as it gently removes dirt, pollutants, and makeup. Get refreshed and healthy skin with every use.” I’ve used this product first thing when I step in the shower on a dry face to remove my makeup, as stated in the directions of the product. I’ve tried both applying the oil straight to my face and rubbing it around to lather as well as lathering the oil in my hands and then applying it to my face that way.

Since this says right in the description that this is for removing makeup, that’s the main purpose I purchased this for. However, this is HORRIBLE at removing makeup. Every single time I have used this to remove my makeup, I’ve had mascara smudges all over my eyes and nose and I’ve had leftover foundation and concealer on my under-eyes and chin. Even when I wash my face TWO TIMES back to back with this product, I still have makeup remnants all over my face when I get out of the shower. I always have to follow up with another product after I use this.

I wish that was the end of it, but we’re just getting started.

The actual application of this product is really difficult to work with. This comes out as a super liquidy water-like oil, and it runs right off my hand while trying to get my hand to my face to lather it up. I end up wasting a lot of product every time I use this because it’s just so liquidy.

I also find that this leaves my skin feelig SUPER tight after I cleanse with it. I definitely have to follow up with a heavy duty moisturizer.

This does make my skin feel like I have a light film on my face. I really do feel like my skin is slightly tacky and sticky right after I wash my face with this.

So basically, this is the worst cleanser I’ve ever used. I love the packaging, but everything else about this is pretty terrible in my book. I wish I had a better review for this because I really was super excited to try this out, but now I’m stuck with a bottle of $10 cleanser that I’m never going to use again.

Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

Best and Worst of ELF Cosmetics!

I’m so excited for today’s post! This is going to be a brand focus on everything I’ve tried from ELf Cosmetics! This is going to be all makeup, and I’m planning on doing another post focusing on skincare and tools, and a third post on their makeup brushes!

Mad for Matte Palette

First up is the Mad for Matte Palette! For me, this is kind of a hit and miss product. The shadows themselves are super buttery and blendable, but the colors all kind of blend into one color for me (which is saying something because I’m super pale). I wouldn’t buy this again, but I do think it’s worth trying if you have a smaller collection and want to expand your range of mattes.

Eyeshadow Primer

As far as eyeshadow primers go, this isn’t my favorite! I find this to be kind of oily on the lids, much like the Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. It’s only $1, but I would skip this one.

Clear Brow & Lash Mascara

This is such an awesome brow gel for only a dollar! I used this stuff for YEARS until I got hooked on tinted brow gel, and I would totally recommend this!

Eyeshadow Quad

I used to use this little eyeshadow quad for years before I could afford to buy high end palettes, and they are pretty good quality shadows! I wouldn’t say they’re as good as the larger palettes that ELF has out now, but they are better than a lot of other drugstore shadows!

Glitter Primer

I like this primer a lot more than their normal eyeshadow primer! This is a lot tackier and helps hold the shadow on a lot longer! I haven’t tried this with glitter, but I’m sure it would be perfect for that!

Matte Lip Color

This lipstick is a really good formula! I really like the color range they have, and it’s a super comfortable matte. The shade “Natural” is so beautiful!

Lip Exfoliator

This is such a steal from ELF! I love the packaging of this and I love that I don’t have to dip my finger into a little pot and use my finger to scrub my lips. This is so quick and convenient for every day use, and it smells and tastes great too!
Luscious Liquid Lipstick

I really like the packaging of this lipstick, but the formula wasn’t my favorite! I probably wouldn’t buy this again, but I think for $1 it’s definitely than any lipsticks you’ll find at the Dollar Tree.

Mineral Infused Face Primer

This is kind of a dud for me! I think it’s a good primer if you like silicone primers, but I really don’t! This would probably be a pretty dang close dupe to the Smashbox Primer, and I think a lot of people would like this if you’re okay with silicone.

Blush & Bronzer Duo

Who didn’t have this back in the day!? I thought this was a perfect little duo to have a compact blush and bronzer when traveling! They’ve come out with multiple colors since I owned this, so you can pick and choose which one works best for you!

Baked Highlighter “Moonlit Pearls”

This is my most recent buy from ELF, and I’m absolutely obsessed with it! You have to scrape off the top layer to get the “baked” film off, but once that’s gone, this is one of the most beautiful highlights ever!

What are some of your favorites from ELF? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, and I’ll see you soon!

Products to Use Up in 2017 – June Update

I can’t believe we’re already halfway done with the year! Where has the time gone?! And since the year is half way over, that means my year long project is halfway over! So far I have 8 products down, 8 that I’m working on, and a slot for 1 more item to be added in. I haven’t quite decided what I want to add since I just started my Finish 14 By Fall Project (which is going to clear out my collection quite a bit) so I’m going to hold off on picking my last product until my September update.

I’m not decluttering anything this time around (I know, I’m shocked too) so we don’t need to worry about replacing any products. I’m going to do a super quick rundown of everything that I’ve finished so we’re not getting too repetitive and then we’ll jump into the progress pictures and what I’m still working on.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I finished this product by my March update, so if you’re interested in hearing my thoughts on it, go check out that post!

Benefit BrowVo Brow Conditioning Primer

I finished this product by my March update, so if you’re interested in hearing my thoughts on it, go check out that post!

Lasting Smiles Peppermint Lip Balm

I didn’t have much of this lip balm left when I started out the project, and I finished this about a week after my March Update. I really liked this lip balm, and I would definitely buy this again.

Golden Pear & Brown Sugar Shower Gel

I started out with about half of this product, and I only had one or two uses left by my March Update, so I finished this shortly after.

Bath & Body Works Winter Candle

This candle was added in my March update, and I was able to finish it! I really didn’t like the scent of this once it started filling the room, so I’m glad this candle is finally done. (Am I the only one that hates how Bath & Body Works candles burn?! It drives me crazy to have so much wax left that won’t melt because of how the wicks are placed).

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder

This product was added in my March update, and I was able to finish it around the first of May!

Garnier Clearly Brighter Moisturizer

I added this product in my March update and I was able to finish it up before the June update! This wasn’t my favorite, but it wasn’t bad either.

Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Dry Oil

I got through the rest of this hair oil! I would say that this probably had about a third of the bottle left when I started the project in January, and I finished this up in late May.

Burt’s Bees Pink Grapefruit Lip Balm

I have a tiny little bit of my Burt’s Bees lip balm to work through, and this will totally be done by my next update!

Makeup Forever N9 Lipstick Sample

I was using this lipstick in my Finish 7 By Summer Project Pan, so this has seen A LOT of love in the last 3 months. I’m confident that I can use this up by the end of the year, and I’ve been working really hard with it to get it where it is now.

Benefit Gimme Brow Sample

This product is on its last leg for sure. I have to dip the wand in more and more times every time I reach for this, and I’ve started scraping the sides to coat the brush. I can tell that this will be done very soon, by the next update if not by the end of the month.

Sea Breeze Toner

I’ve been neglecting this product so hard! I’ve used this several times, but this should be almost gone by now if I had been using it daily. Now that this challenge is halfway over, I need to get going on this guy!

Rimmel London Kate Lipstick

This is another product that I’ve neglected and now the project is halfway over and I’ve only worn it a handful of times! This is the biggest challenge hands down as of right now, and I really need to get going on it!!

Any Bath & Body Works Spray (Golden Pear & Brown Sugar)

I’m so proud that I’ve almost gone through a whole Bath & Body Works spray in one year!! I’ve worked hard on this guy, and I’ve been using it every single day (even on the days that I’m sick of it and don’t want to use it). I’m ready for this sucker to be gone!

Any Bath & Body Works Full Size Lotion (Fresh Sparkling Snow)

I use this lotion every single morning, and I’m slowly but surely working my way through. I’m not worried about this being done by the end of the project, I can tell there isn’t too much left to go now.

ColourPop “Between the Sheets” Blush

I’ve made a huge dent in the ColourPop blush (mostly because I was using it in another Project Pan so I hardly put it down in the last 3 months). This still has a lot of product left in it, but I’m doing my best!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my second update for this year long project!! I’m super excited to keep going with this challenge and get some more stuff knocked out of the way by my September update! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time.
