April Favorites

I’m back with the latest installment in my monthly favorites series!! These are my favorite posts to do for you guys every month, and I hope you’re all still loving them as much as I do! I’ve had a lot of repeat favorites this month of things that I’ve mentioned in previous months, and it’s a struggle not to repeat favorites but I’m trying my best! Let’s get into this month’s products:

Vintage Highlighter “Rose Gold”

Finger swatch on the right, blended out swatch on the left

I brought this highlighter on vacation with me when we went to Atlanta at the beginning of the month, and having it with me really made me rediscover how much I love this product! This gives such a beautiful duo-chrome look to the cheeks, and it gives such a pretty rose gold glow to my fair skin. I’ve been using this almost every single day instead of saving it for special occasions like I used to, and it’s seriously stunning.

Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette

I’ve been loving this palette so much! As you can see, I’ve gotten a lot of use out of the neutrals and I’ve even dipped into the more dramatic burgandy colors a little bit as well. The shades Vermeer and Buon Fresco are definitely my favorites out of the palette, and I love that it’s a mostly matte palette as well. I wasn’t planning on buying this originally, but I’m so happy that I gave it a chance.

Smashbox Insta Matte Transforming Topcoat

If you missed my ColourPop Lippie Stix Review post, I mentioned that I really didn’t like the formula of the color “Aquarius” but the shade was my favorite of the three that I’ve purchased so far. I was about to pass it on to someone else when I found this little Smashbox lipstick transformer tucked in the back of my lipstick drawer. I decided to try it with Aquarius, and it made the lipstick matte and budgeproof and I’ve been able to wear it so many times because the formula isn’t sliding all over my lips anymore!! I’m so impressed with this lipstick transformer, and I think that EVERYONE should try it out. It turns a terrible formula into a velvet matte formula instantly, and it’s honestly one of the coolest and most innovative makeup products I’ve ever used.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

I’ve been loving this concealer from Rimmel this month!! I bought this toward the end of February and I just finished up my other under eye concealer, so I’ve just started to really use the Match Perfection every day. This concealer is so high coverage and I love the brush applicator! It blends out beautifully and really makes my face look super highlighted and beautiful.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

I finished up my sample size of the Amika dry shampoo, and I’m so sad that this product is gone because it was such a gem! I love the scent of this, and I love that it makes my hair feel so clean without leaving white powder residue on my roots. I’m seriously going to miss this product (which says a lot because I LOVE my Batiste dry shampoos) and I might just have to splurge on it sometime in the future (hubby take note for future birthdays, anniversary’s, and Christmas).

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope that you enjoyed hearing about what I’ve been loving during the month of April. What have your favorite products been this month? Let me know in a comment down below! I’ll talk to you soon!!

My Top 5 Foundations – Top 5 Series

Welcome to the next installment in my top 5 series! This time around we’re talking about my favorite 5 foundations/bb creams. I have very oily skin, so all of these are either very matte foundations or they are foundations that I use a heavy duty powder with to keep them from getting shiny. Let’s get into my top 5!

5. Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

I didn’t ever fall in love with this foundation, but it was definitely a really good, solid, basic foundation for oily skin. I thought this kept me matte and I liked the finish of it.

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder Foundation

It’s been years since I used this foundation, but it’s on my wishlist to pick up again because of how much I loved it! This has the craziest full coverage, which is so weird for a powder!! I loved how matte this kept me, and I loved using this on more natural days.

3. Loreal Magic BB Cream

I really love this BB Cream, but I do have a hard time making this work with my oily ski sometimes. Out of all the drugstore BB creams I’ve used, this one is the best for oily skin by far! It has awesome coverage too, and I’ve been wanting to pick this up again for the summertime!

2. Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

I love my Covergirl Outlast foundation so much! I’ve been using this for years and years (pretty much ever since it came out actually) and I’ve probably repurchased this foundation the most amount of times out of all of my foundations!

1. Revlon ColorStay Foundation

The only reason this foundation is number one over my Covergirl Outlast is because the color matches me the slightest bit better during most of the year. This foundation is amazing, and I love it just as much as my Covergirl! This keeps me nice and matte no matter what time of year it is or how hot it is outside. I have a whole review post of this if you want to hear more about it!

I hope you enjoyed today’s top 5 post!! Make sure to follow my blog to see the rest of the series coming up, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Spring 2017 Ulta + Sephora Wishlist UPDATE – What Did I End Up Buying?!

In the beginning of March I posted my Sephora and Ulta Wishlist and mentioned some products that I had my eye on at the time. I wanted to go ahead and do a follow up post talking about what I bought, what I still want, and what I changed my mind about. (I mentioned a lot of these products in an Ulta + Target HAUL if you’re interested on seeing some of my first impressions on these products.) I’m planning on putting up a wishlist post for summertime very soon sharing my wishlist from Ulta, Sephora, ColourPop, and more; but for now let’s go ahead and get into my spring picks!

Essence Lash Princess Mascara

I ended up picking up this mascara from Ulta just shortly after I posted my wishlist! I have a whole review post talking about my thoughts if you want to go check that out.

Essence Make Me Brow

This is another product that I picked up shortly after my wish list post went up. I’m planning on talking about this in a comparison post in the near future, so I’m not going to go into too much depth here. Stay tuned for the review if you’re interested in trying this out!

Catrice Smokey Matt Eyeshadow Powder

I decided to take this one off my list because I couldn’t find it anywhere at Ulta and I’m not planning on doing an online order anytime soon.

Covergirl Tru Naked Nudes Palette

I’m still kind of 50/50 about this palette. I have a ton of eyeshadow palettes and I’m sure I already own all of these shades, but I still kind of want to pick this palette up.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream “Athens”

I’m taking this off of my wishlist because I love the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit formula so much that I don’t even want to buy any other liquid lipsticks anymore.

Essie Gel Couture Polish + Topcoat

I haven’t picked these up yet, but I still want them! I’m waiting until the topcoat I’m using now dries out and then I want to go scoop these up! I’ve heard really good things about the formula and I love how the bottles look!

Revlon HD Gel Lipstick “Sand”

I did end up picking up this lipstick, but I haven’t really used it too much since buying it. It’s the exact color of my lips, so I find it to be kind of pointless to put on every day. Plus it has a super strong fruity scent to it which I’m just not really a fan of. I’m trying to keep using it and trying it, but there’s been other lipsticks I’ve been into lately.

Amika Dry Conditioner Spray

This product is still on my wishlist, and I want to look into getting it in a two pack with the dry shampoo because I love that product as well. I’ve really been missing having a dry conditioner since I used mine up, so I need to go get one soon.

Makeup Eraser Cloth

I took this one off the wishlist because I found a dupe at TJ Maxx for around $5!

Too Faced Hangover RX Primer

I did go and pick up this primer, but I ended up returning it a few days later because it really wasn’t working with my oily skin very well anymore.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

I still have my eye on this palette, but I’m hoping to hit pan on a couple of shades in the original Chocolate Bar palette before I pick up another one. We all know that the last thing I need in my life is another neutral palette!

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Set

I’m still wanting to try these lipsticks, but they’re not very high on my priority list to be honest. This is one of those impulse buy items that I would pick up with a gift card, but I don’t think I’m going to be running out to get them anytime soon.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a quick update on what I bought and what I still want to pick up! I’m planning on making this a seasonal series on my blog so I will share my wishlist at the beginning of the season and then do an update near the end of the season. I hope you’ll stick around to see my summer wishlist in a few weeks! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon!!

ColourPop Lippie Stix Reviews – Matte, Satin, Creme Reviews!

I did a ColourPop HAUL + First Impressions on my blog a few months back, and I ordered three different Lippie Stix formulas in order to test out the different finishes and let you guys know what I thought of them. It’s taken me a while to test all of them out and decide what I liked and what I didn’t, but I’m here today to go over the three formulas and colors and give my thoughts!

The three colors I picked up were the matte Lippie Stix in the shade Cookie, the satin Lippie Stix in the shade Button, and the creme Lippie Stix in the shade Aquarius. I personally don’t really like the shade Button very much, and it ended up being a lot more bright coral on me than the soft nude pink that I wanted. Cookie is VERY brown on my lips, and Aquarius is a super natural “my lips but better” shade.

As far as the formulas go, I think that my least favorite is the creme formula. The creme formula description on ColourPop’s website says that it is “medium-to-full coverage lipstick that’s ultra creamy and melts onto the lips”. While the color Aquarius is my favorite of the three, I really feel like the creme formula is the worst of the three. It feels super slippery on my lips, and I tend to not reach for it because it makes me  think that the lipstick is sliding all over the place. It kind of makes my lips feel slimey and goopy, and I’m really not a huge fan.

I think that the satin formula is alright. The satin formula description on ColourPop’s website says that it is “full-coverage, long-wearing lipstick that glides on smoothly and leaves lips feeling lightly hydrated. Satin finish is 80% matte and 20% creme.” To me, the satin formula kind of seems like just your average lipstick formula with a little bit of a sheen to it. I really don’t have anything bad to say about it, other than the fact that I don’t really like the shade Button and will probably end up passing it on. I think I prefer this formula because it is 80% matte formula which means that it doesn’t slide as much as the creme formula does.

The matte Lippie Stix formula is the best hands down for me. The matte formula description on ColourPop’s website says that it is “full-coverage lipstick that is super long-wearing, ultra comfortable, and loaded with pigment.” While the shade Cookie isn’t something that I would wear everyday, I think that the formula is very reliable and doesn’t move around or slide throughout the day. I like the finish on the lips, and I like how comfortable it is even though it is a matte and drier formula.

To sum up: I would highly recommend the matte formula from ColourPop, while I feel kind of so-so about the satin formula and personally wouldn’t purchase the creme formula again.

Have you tried ColourPop’s Lippie Stix? Which formula is your favorite? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

My Top 5 Mascaras – Top 5 Series

Welcome back lovelies!! I’m kicking off my new Top 5 series with my Top 5 favorite mascaras! These are all mascaras that I’ve talked about at some point on my blog before, but I’ve never done a Top 5 listing like this. I’m planning on doing several other categories (probably blush, eyeshadow palettes, lip products, foundation, etc.) so definitely follow my blog and stick around for the rest of this series and without further ado, let’s get into my top 5 mascaras!

5. L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes

The L’Oréal Million Lashes mascara is awesome for lots of length and separation. The wand definitely separates and fans out the lashes.
4. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes

This Tarte mascara is really an awesome all-in-one mascara. This is stunning on its own and I never have to layer this with anything else because it adds so much volume and length.
3. L’Oréal Butterfly Mascara

The L’Oréal Butterfly mascara is one of the best!! This makes my lashes look fake and adds so much volume and length. I love layering this with a volumizing mascara to get a full dramatic false lash effect.
2. L’Oréal Miss Manga

This Miss Manga mascara is awesome for every day. I love how quick this is to apply and get a good look, and it really does make my lashes look awesome with just two coats.
1. L’Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black

My number one mascara is the tried and true L’Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black. The reason this is my number one is because of how much thickness and volume this adds to my lashes. This layers with other mascaras so nicely and makes even a crappy mascara look good.

I know that most of my favorite mascaras are from L’Oréal, but I really have tried a lot of other mascaras from the drugstore (lots from Covergirl and almost all of the ones from Maybelline!) and I really think L’Oréal has the best mascara formula! I hope you enjoyed seeing my first top 5 post, and I hope you’ll follow my blog to see the rest of this series!

MORE Makeup That I’m Getting Rid Of – Makeup Declutter Series Part Three (BEST DECLUTTER YET?!)

I’m here with part 3 in my makeup declutter series! If you haven’t seen part one or part two of this series, definitely go check them out to see some more makeup collection decluttering goodness, but let’s go ahead and get into what I’m getting rid of in this round of products!

Studio Makeup On-The-Go Palette “Cool Down”

I got this palette in my November BoxyCharm box, and although I’m absolutely in love with the way the palette looks, I find that I just haven’t been able to get a practical look out of this palette, and I just have other palettes that I prefer over this one. While the quality is amazing (and I’ve been going back and forth for months now on whether I should depot the colors I like or give the whole palette away) I have to give this one up.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

I’m finally tossing out my Naked Basics palette. While I’ve loved this for so long, (I even used this on my wedding day!) I’ve had this palette for years and years and I know that the formula is starting to change. I also have every single color in this palette in almost all of my other palettes, so I went ahead and depotted the shade Venus to use as a highlight and I’m tossing the rest out.

Bella Pierre Volumelash Waterproof Mascara

This was a product from my February Ipsy bag, and although I was so excited to be getting a full sized mascara, I really have no desire to try this because it’s waterproof. My coworker wears waterproof mascara every day, and I was so excited when she said she would take this product off my hands!

ELF Matte Lipstick “Tea Rose”

I was so excited about this lipstick, and I’m still super bummed that this color didn’t work for me (because the shade in “Natural” from the same line is one of my favorite lipsticks!). This is just too mauve toned for me, and it almost looks gray on my lips.

NYX Butter Lipstick “Lifeguard”

This was another product from my February Ipsy that I was so excited about. Not only was I shocked to see another full sized product in the bag, but I hadn’t ever tried the NYX Butter lipstick formula before. I wore this one time, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to keep it. If I’m going to reach for a bright red, it needs to be matte so I know it won’t be sliding and smudging all over my face, so this formula unfortunately just isn’t right for this color.

ColourPop Lippie Stix “Button”

I like the formula of the satin lippie stix from ColourPop but the color of this shade is just way too bright coral for me. I’m going to go ahead and pass this on.

Ciate London Liquid Velvet Lipstick “Diva”

This is a product from my November ipsy bag, and while I love the formula, the color is just a little bit too bright red for me. I’m hoping that someone will be able to get use out of all of these red lip products.

Hikari Liquid Liner “Iris”

I got this in my December Ipsy bag, and I was so excited to be getting a full sized black liquid liner. Well it turns out that this is actually a purple shade, and I don’t like that it isn’t intense enough to really stand out against my mascara, so I’m going to hand this off to someone else.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter

I got this nude highlighter pencil in my March ipsy bag, and I knew that I wouldn’t like it when I fist got it. I did give it a shot, but I found that this really does blend out to nothing on the eyes.

Eyeshadow Singles

I’m getting rid of 3 single shadows from my ZPalette since I got two products in my April Ipsy bag that needed to fit into it. I decided to toss out Verve and Suspect from the Naked 2 palette as well as this teeny Bahama Mama bronzer sample that I got in an Ipsy bag. I haven’t been reaching for these colors since I depotted them into my ZPalette, and I’m trying to be better about not holding onto shades just because they’re part of a palette or because they’re a nice neutral color. If I don’t use them, I need to toss them or pass them on.

Sinful Colors Gray Nail Polish

I’ve had this polish forever, and I really love wearing dark gray colors in the wintertime, but I recently got a full sized polish in my ipsy bag that was a very similar color to this, and since this bottle is starting to get old anyway, I decided to keep the newer one and toss this one out.

Golden Pear & Brown Sugar Body Lotion

I’ve used up the full size shower gel and I’m working on the full size body spray in this scent, so I’m kind of burnt out on this set and I decided to go ahead and get rid of the lotion while it still has a lot of product left in it.

November 2015 Ipsy Bag

I’m finally going ahead and passing on some of my older ipsy bags that I don’t get a lot of use out of. I find that since I’m getting a new bag every month, if I kept every single one of them that I liked, I would be drowning in them before too long. This is such a cute pattern and I know one of my cousins will love this and get a lot more use out of it than I ever will.

November 2016 Ipsy Bag

I’m getting rid of this bag as well for the same reasons as the other one: I just don’t rotate it through my purse often enough to justify keeping it. While I do actually like this bag, this isn’t one of the ones that I love, and since I get a new one every single month, it only makes sense to keep the ones that I absolutely love from now on.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about some more beauty products that I’m removing from my collection! I love doing this series, and I hope you enjoy following along to see some of the things that haven’t been working for me. Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

Essence Lash Princess Mascara REVIEW

I have a super quick review of the Essence Lash Princess mascara today! I’ve been using this mascara every single day for a full month now, and I thought I would give my full thoughts on it. I mentioned this mascara in my Ulta + Target Haul a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to go ahead and follow up with you all! Let’s get into my review!!

Let’s start with the basics. This mascara retails for $4.99 from Target and Ulta which is very affordable compared to most other drugstore mascaras (I have found that most mascaras typically go for $7 plus for Loreal, Maybelline, and Covergirl).

This mascara comes in two different formulas. They have the volume formula in the black and pink tube and the false lash effect formula in the black and teal tube. I personally have only tried the false lash effect formula of this (mostly because I heard that it’s a million times better than the pink tube). Ulta does sell these in a two pack with a dollar or two discount (they have them up by the register in their travel section) if you wanted to try both formulas out and compare them for yourself.

I really do like the wand on this mascara. It’s your basic mascara wand but this does have a slight taper to it. I love how much product it picks up, and I like the packaging itself a lot too. I found that this mascara really started to pack its punch around the two week mark after it had dried out a little bit.

I really didn’t like the formula of this mascara. I thought it looked beautiful after two coats (especially when layered with my holy grail Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara). The thing I absolutely HATED about this mascara is how badly it transfers on me! This mascara leaves black smudges where my lashes touch my face throughout the day (on my undereyes and my brow bone). I have to constantly check in the mirror and wipe away the black smudges, and I absolutely hate it. I honestly think there is nothing more annoying when it comes to mascara.

So personally, I won’t be buying this mascara again. I love the price point, the packaging, the wand, and the way it looks on my lashes, but I just can’t get past the transfer. I hope you enjoyed hearing my review on this mascara! Have you tried it? Did you like it or did it transfer on you as well? Let me know in a comment down below. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, and I’ll talk to you soon!!
