Products that are NOT Worth the Hype – Smashbox, Too Faced, NYX + More!

Today I’m going to be talking about makeup that I bought because everyone said they were awesome, but they ended up not being so awesome. These are things that got tons of hype when they were released, but I wasn’t too impressed when I actually tried them. (Of course these are all just my personal opinion and I’m not here to offend anyone. Also, all of these images are from Google since I’ve decluttered most of these items from my collection). Let’s get into the products!

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara

It’s been a few years since this mascara came out, but it was all the rage back in the day. Everyone was scooping this mascara up and raving about how good it was. When I tried it for myself, I found that this was the most smudging mascara I’ve ever used. This was all over my face within an hour of wearing it. I know there’s a lot of new Maybelline mascaras that have launched since this one, but take my word for it and skip this product.

Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation and Powder

This is another product that hasn’t been super hyped in a few years, but I still hear people talking about this from time to time. I absolutely hated the Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous line. Both the foundation and the powder were awful on me! I have the world’s most oily skin, and this melted off my face faster than any other foundation I’ve ever tried.

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

This primer was HUGE when it came out. There was not a single person who didn’t run out and buy this claiming that it was a dupe for Benefit’s Porefessional primer. I found that this was greasy and didn’t fill my pores or help keep my makeup on longer.

Smashbox Primer Water

I didn’t hate this primer, but I definitely don’t think this does anything for your makeup. While the whole idea of a spray on primer is super cool, this honestly doesn’t do anything. To me, it’s literally just water in a bottle.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Everyone still raves about this mascara, and I just don’t understand why. While it does definitely add length and volume to your lashes, there are so many other high end (and drugstore) mascaras that do so much more than this. I recommend picking up either the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, the L’oreal Original Carbon Black mascara, L’oreal Miss Manga mascara, or the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect mascara instead.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

I really hated this brow pencil. This is supposed to be a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil, but it’s no where close. This pencil is so much dryer than the Anastasia pencil (to the point where it almost ripped out your brow hairs while you apply it).

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

As an oily skinned girl, I had high expectations for this matte foundation. Unfortunately, this was super oily on my skin. I really wanted this to work for me because I love L’Oréal, but unfortunately it didn’t (which sucks because everyone talks about this all the time).

These are my top overrated products! Have you tried anything on my list? Did you have a different experience than me? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today, and I’ll see you nextg time!
