Products I’ve Used Up – January and February Empties!

I’ve got a combined empties post for you today of all the products (along with some mini reviews of the products) that I’ve used up in the months of January and February. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that I typically do these empties posts every single month. However, I started my Products to Use Up in 2017  challenge at the beginning of January, and most of the products that I’m working on right now are items that are going to take a while to use up, so I didn’t finish too many things during January (Hence the combined empties post). Let’s get into the products!

Makeup

Marcelle Curling & Lengthening Mascara

I got this mascara sample in a Birchbox and I liked it enough, but it dried out super quickly! I only got to use this for about a month before it got to the point where it really didn’t do anything to my lashes. I can usually make sample mascaras last for about 3 months, but this one went super fast. I doubt that I would buy a full size of this.

theBalm Mad Lash Mascara

I really loved this mascara! This lengthened my lashes a lot, and this tube lasted forever (longer than most full sized tubes last me). I would totally buy this if I could catch it on sale from theBalm’s website or Hautelook.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

I was super excited to get this sample as a 100 point perk from Sephora, and I actually kept this bottle half full for about 6 months (am I the only one that does this?! When I’m really excited about a product I’ll leave it sitting half empty to “save it just in case a special occasion comes up and I want it for that”. Why do I do this instead of just using it up and buying the full size!?) and I’m happy that I finally forced myself to use this up. I don’t really think that this does much of anything for keeping makeup on longer, so I probably won’t buy this.

Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream

I have a whole review post  of this product up on my blog, and this is one of the items featured in my Products to Use Up in 2017  challenge, but honestly I just can’t make this stuff work for me anymore! First of all, this is about 2-3 shades too dark for my skin (and it’s the lightest shade they make!). And even when I mix a little bit of this in with my everyday foundation, this makes me look so oily and crazy by the end of the day! I’m so bummed that I’m not able to power through the rest of this product, but I don’t want to force myself to use something I don’t like, so I’m going to toss the rest of what’s in here and cut my losses.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I finally finished up my tube of Urban Decay Primer Potion! These eyeshadow primer tubes last forever, and this was one of the products on my Products To Use Up In 2017 list, so I’m excited to be done with this!

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

I finished another tube of my Maybelline Lumi Concealer, and this is one of the best highlighting concealers from the drugstore! I really love this product, but I wish it came with more concealer because I go through them every month and a half to two months. I already have another one that I’m currently using because I love it enough to buy a backup, but I think once my current five runs out, I might try out something different.

Benefit BrowVo Brow Conditioning Primer

I got this as a sample from Sephora and I didn’t really feel like this did anything for my brows. I’m super excited that I finished this because it was one of the items on my Products To Use Up In 2017 challenge!

Skincare

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Wash (Travel Size)

I decided to swap out my travel cleanser and used up this little Clean & Clear mini. I’m happy to say that I’m 100% all natural with my facial cleansers now that this guy is out of my life! I definitely won’t be repurchasing this, and I’m glad to have it gone.

Body

Honeycrisp Apple & Buttered Rum Orchard Body Spray

This is one of my all time favorite scents from Bath & Body Works. I loved the apple scent with the warm buttered rum undertone that this had. I would definitely buy this again, and I’m so happy that I fully used up a Bath & Body Works spray because I actually haven’t ever done that before.

Twenty One Black by Rue21 Perfume

This is my holy grail perfume, and I just recently finished up my 3rd bottle of it. I’ve already purchased another one that I’m currently using, and I love that this is such a long lasting perfume at such an affordable price!

Misc.

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water

I finally finished up the last can I had of this spray water! I like to use this for wetting my eyeshadow brushes when I’m foiling a shadow and also for getting my hair damp when I braid it overnight. I wouldn’t buy this product again, but I didn’t hate using it up either.

I hope you enjoyed my quick little empties post! Thank you for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

This or That Beauty Tag

Today I’m throwing it back to the 2013 YouTube days when “tag” videos were all the rage. They were basically just a bunch of questions that girls would answer and then “tag” other beauty gurus to answer the questions in their own video. I thought it would be super fun to answer all of the questions from the This or That tag on my blog!

Makeup:

Blush or Bronzer?
I’m definitely a blush girl!

Lip Gloss or Lipstick?
Lipstick all the way.

Eyeliner or Mascara?
Mascara is my number one makeup product. If I only had time to do one thing, it would be my lashes.

Foundation or Concealer?
Foundation. I like having a nice even base.

Neutral or Colored Eyeshadow?
Neutral and preferably matte.

Pressed or Loose Powder?
Either one works great for me.

Brushes or Sponges?
Beauty Blender all the way.

Nails:

OPI or China Glaze?
OPI is my favorite nail polish brand!

Long or Short?
Medium length. Not trying to be a rebel, I just hate them too long and hate them too short.

Acrylic or Natural?
Love my natural nails! Plastic is too thick for my taste.

Brights or Darks?
I typically do brights on my toes and darks or neutrals on my fingers.

Flower or No Flower?
Plain and boring for me.

Body:

Perfume or Body Splash?
Body splash. It’s less heavy and overpowering.

Lotion or Body Butter?
Body butter! I love the most moisture I can possibly get.

Body Wash or Soap?
Body wash!

Lush or Other Bath Company?
None. I don’t typically take baths so I’ve never actually used any kind of bath bomb type product before.

Fashion:

Jeans or Sweats?
LEGGINGS!

Long Sleeves or Short?
Depends on the weather, I go either way.

Dresses or Skirts?
Skirts. But usually pants if I can because I hate shaving my legs.

Stripes or Plaid?
Floral lol

Flip Flops or Sandals?
I love sandals!

Scarves or Hats?
Scarves.

Studs Earrings or Dangly Earrings?
Typically studs, but I love dangly earrings for date nights.

Necklaces or Bracelets?
Necklaces! I can’t even remember the last time I threw on a bracelet.

Heels or Flats?
Flats for everyday, but I love me a good heel (I’m 5 foot nothing so I can get away with them!)

Cowboy Boots or Riding Boots?
I don’t really wear either, but if I had to choose, probably riding boots I guess.

Jacket or Hoodie?
Jacket. I love having a zipper.

Hair:

Curly or Straight?
Straight! Curls fall flat in a matter of minutes on me.

Bun or Ponytail?
Ponytail.

Hair Spray or Gel?
Hair spray for sure.

Long Hair or Short Hair?
Long!

Light Hair or Dark Hair?
I’m a natural dirty blonde, and I love my hair natural, but I would say in general I probably prefer darker hair.

Side Sweep Bangs or Full Bangs?
Side sweep. Gotta love that fringe.

Up or Down?
Down always! I almost never wear my hair up!

I hope you enjoyed this tag post and learning a little bit more about me and my beauty preferences. Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you next time!

The ULTIMATE Drugstore Makeup Kit For Normal to Oily Skin!

Today I’m going to be sharing my drugstore starter kit for those who are just starting out with makeup and don’t want to spend a lot of money (or just someone who loves drugstore makeup and wants some new recommendations)! I definitely started out with drugstore makeup, and I still use (and love) a ton of drugstore products. I’m so excited to let you know what all of my drugstore standout products are! Let’s get into it.

Primer – Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer

This is a newbie product to my blog, and I can’t believe I’ve never talked about this primer before! This used to be my absolute holy grail face primer a couple of years ago, and this is honestly one of the best face primers out there!

Foundation – Revlon Colorstay Foundation

If you’ve visited my blog before, you’ve heard me talk about this foundation a million times (See my Products I ALWAYS RepurchaseMost Repurchased Makeup Products, October Empties, December Favorites , or Ride or Die Makeup Tag posts if you had doubts that I’ve mentioned this a million times). I have a whole post dedicated to this foundation if you want to see exactly why I love it (Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review). Long story short, I highly reccomend this foundation to everyone (they even make it in two different formulas; one for dry skin and one for oily skin)!

Concealer – Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

If you missed my Maybelline Concealer Guide post, I’ll just tell you now that I absolutely adore this concealer. This is hands down the best drugstore concealer of all time. Whether you’re using it for blemishes, highlighting, or concealing your undereyes, this concealer is incredible.

Face Setting Powder – Maybelline Shine Free Loose Powder

I absolutely love this powder for setting my entire face. It keeps me matte all day long, and it looks so beautiful and natural with my Revlon Colorstay foundation. I love how skin-like this powder looks but it also keeps me matte (I’ve tried just about every single powder from the drugstore, and this one is hands down the most natural and skin-like powder).

Under Eye Setting Powder – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless “Translucent”

This translucent powder pulls slightly white on the skin, which makes it perfect for brightening your undereyes. This powder is also awesome for all over the face, and it really helps with oily skin.

Bronzer – NYC “Sunny” Bronzer

This bronzer is so cheap and cheerful, and it’s such a universally flattering shade. I’ve been using this bronzer for so long, and it’s definitely a holy grail.

Highlighter – Wet n Wild “Reserve Your Cabana” Highlighter

I’ve talked about this highlighter so many times, and I absolutely love the natural finish that this gives to the skin. It gives such a natural everyday glow to the skin, and I love that you get so much product for the price.

Blush – Milani Blushes – Baked Blush and Rose Blushes

I love every single blush formula I’ve ever tried from Milani, and these blushes are the only drugstore blushes I’ve kept through all of the decluttering I’ve done. Both the Baked Blushes and the Rose Blushes are comparable to their high-end dupes.

Eyeshadow – Wet n Wild “Brule” Shadow

I love this eyeshadow as an all over the lid color, and it’s so pigmented and buttery!! This is a staple in my makeup collection, and I don’t know what I would do without it (especially because I use a shade like this every single day to set my eyeshadow primer before I apply eyeshadow).

Eyeshadow Palette – ELF Mad For Matte Palette

This is a palette that I’ve decluttered from my makeup collection, but I did really like it when I had it! The shades are super pigmented and if you love your matte neutral shadows, this is definitely a must have.

Eyeliner – Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner, Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal Liner

These are my two all time favorite eyeliners. They both last all day and they’re both super black. I would highly recommend picking up either of these, and they’ll definitely last all day long (even on oily or watery eyes).

Mascara – L’Oreal Original Carbon Black Mascara

If you’ve been here before, you’ll know that this is my all time favorite holy grail mascara! I absolutely love how voluminous this makes my lashes, and if you haven’t tried it yet, you need to.

Brow Product – Maybelline Define and Fill Duo

This is the best brow product I’ve ever purchased from the drugstore! I love the powder side of this so much, and the pencil side is great too (and extra bonus for not needing to sharpen it lol).

Brow Gel – L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Tinted Gel (not the blonde shade)

I thought this tinted brow gel was great, as long as you don’t get it in the blonde shade (because your brows will be Oompa Loompa orange).

Lip Balm – Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

These are some of the best lip balms at the drugstore!! I love that they’re made with more natural and healthy ingredients, and these do an awesome job keeping your lips moisturized.

Lipstick – Rimmel “Airy Fairy”

I adore this cream nude pink lipstick from Rimmel, and there’s a reason this is a cult classic shade.

Lip Liner – Rimmel “East End Snob”

This is the lip color that I wore on my wedding day, and it gives my lips the perfect “my lips but better” shade while also being completely matte. This lasts forever on my lips as well.

Tools – ELF Cosmetics Brushes (they’re actually the best brushes ever)

The ELF Studio Brushes are the best brushes ever! I seriously swear by these, and I think they’re every bit as good as any high end brushes out there (bonus: they’re easy to replace when they start to get old and gross).

Have you tried any of these products? What are your favorite drugstore products? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, I’ll see you next time!!

February Ipsy Unboxing

I’m back with another ipsy unboxing! Today I’m going to be sharing the 5 samples that came in my February ipsy bag. February’s theme was “much love” and the bag itself is supposed to be inspired by “your favorite pair of jeans”. I’m personally not a huge fan of the whole denim trend, so this isn’t a bag I’m going to be keeping. Let’s get into the samples!

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish “$12 Latte”

One of my favorite nail polishes of all time is from Trust Fund Beauty, so I was super excited to see that I was going to be getting another full size nail polish from them. This month, ipsy sent out two different colors, and I ended up getting the brownish grey color. Although I’m not a huge fan of the color, I’m happy I got this one instead of the blue one they sent out.

NYX Butter Lipstick “Lifeguard”

I’ve been dying to try the NYX Butter Lipsticks since they came out years ago, and I’ve just never gotten around to it. This month, ipsy sent out two different colors (a bright red and a darker vampy red) and I ended up getting the bright red color. While this isn’t something I’m probably going to get a ton of use out of, I’m really impressed that they sent out a full size lipstick.

Bella Pierre Cosmetics Volumelash Waterproof Mascara

I was so excited to see that I was getting a full sized mascara this month! While I’m not the biggest fan of waterproof mascaras (because they’re so hard to remove) I actually kinda like this one!

Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eye Shadow “Latte”

I’ve been super into using shimmery bold colors on my lid lately, and I was really looking forward to trying this cream pigment. I’ve popped the pan out and stuck it into my ZPalette, and I think this is going to be a super pretty “one shadow look” kind of color

BeFine Food Skin Care Gentle Face Cleanser

I’m not the biggest fan of getting face cleansers in subscription boxes (thanks a lot Birchbox for ruining that for me) but I like how large this sample is! This seems like a more natural cleanser with sugar, mint, oats, and rice, so I’m really excited to use this!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got in this month’s ipsy! Did you get any of the same products as me? Thank you so much for stopping by!!

MORE Makeup That I’m Getting Rid Of – Makeup Declutter Series Part 2

I’m back with another Makeup I’m Getting Rid Of! I typically post any kind of decluttering related post on my second blog Home, Budget, Blog, but because these particular blog posts are more of makeup reviews, they get to live on Disney Wife! If you didn’t see part one of my Makeup That I’m Getting Rid Of series, definitely go check that post out, but without further ado, here we go with MORE makeup that I’m decluttering from my collection!!

Pure Cosmetics Buff Collection Palette

I got this palette in my December BoxyCharm, and I mentioned in that post that I didn’t think this was as good of quality as some of my other palettes and (shocker) it’s really not. I figure that I have the Chocolate Bar palette, the Naked 2, both of the Tartelette palettes, and two of the Natural Eye palettes from Too Faced, so I REALLY don’t need this as well. I now that my sister-in-law who doesn’t own as many palettes as I do would really love this, and I’m really excited to be giving her a $50 eyeshadow palette to play around with.
L.A. Colors Polish and Sally Hansen Insta Dry Topcoat

These are a couple of nail polishes that I’m going to be getting rid of. I’ve found a topcoat that I like better than the Sally Hansen one, and I replaced the L.A. Colors nail polish with a similar color that has a better formula and doesn’t have the annoying (and hard to remove) glitter in it.
IBY Beauty Pencil Liner “Cocoa”

As I’ve mentioned a million times before, I really only like black liquid liner. I got this in an ipsy, so I’m going to give it to someone who likes brown liners.
Lime Crime Liquid Lipstick “Mercury”

I cashed in my Ipsy points for a sample in December and they mixed up my order and sent me this liquid lipstick instead of the brush that I ordered! The color is absolutely CRAZY and it looks like actual Tin Man lips! I’m definitely NEVER going to wear this (and it had my husband and I rolling on the floor laughing at how ridiculous I looked with this on) but my sister-in-law said that she would give it a shot layering it with some other lipsticks, so it’s going to a loving home.
January 2017 Ipsy Bag

If you saw my January 2017 Ipsy Unboxing post, you’ll know that I didn’t super love that month’s ipsy bag. My younger cousins love getting these to use as makeup bags or little purses, so I’m definitely going to pass it down to them (or donate it to Goodwill).

Jurlique Rose Lip Balm

I got this lip balm in an ipsy about a year ago and have hardly touched it. It’s super dried out on top, so unfortunately I have to just throw it away (this is why I want to get my makeup collection down to a more reasonable size! Things shouldn’t be expiring before I can get to them).

Stroke of Beauty Brow Pencil

Yes, I put this Brow Pencil in my Products to Use Up in 2017  challenge, but honestly, I just don’t like it. I don’t want to force myself to use a product that I hate every single morning just for the sake of using it up. So I’m going to just pass it on.

ELF Blush Brush

This is an awesome brush, but I honestly haven’t reached for this in a long time, so I figured it was probably time to pass it on since my brush drawer was about one brush too full to shut all the way. Oops.

Nivea Lip Butter

This is SOOOO old (probably the oldest item in my collection) and it’s not going to be used up before it goes bad, so I’m going to toss it.

Jersey Shore Lavender Lip Balm

I got this lip balm in an ipsy and I was planning on using it up, but I really hate the scent and taste of lavender, and this makes me nauseous every time I use it.

Water Lauder Double Wear Foundation Sample

I got this sample from an Estée Lauder counter, but the lightest shade is way too dark for me, so I’m going to toss it.

Manna Kadar Blush “Paradise”

I just got this blush in my January ipsy bag, and I wore it once and realized that the color is way too crazy bright pink for my pale skin.

NYC Bronzer “Sunny”

This is one of the best bronzers from the drugstore, and I’ve had it for probably close to 5 years now. Not to mention the fact that I’m so pale that I never wear bronzer because it looks muddy and crazy on my skin so this poor guy never gets used anymore. So it’s definitely time to throw this away.

Anastasia DipBrow Pomade

My DipBrow is still hanging on, but once you get down to this thin layer in the jar, the formula starts to dry out and change and it gets really thick and clumpy. It’s time to toss this and break out my new one.

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Stick “Perk”

I got two of these Milk Makeup cream blushes from Birchbox (long story but they ended up sending me two boxes so I had a duplicate of this) and I used the other one up and have been hanging onto the new one for a long time. Since this is brand new and I like the ColourPop blushes a lot more than this, I’m going to give it away new to someone! (which is always such a good feeling because I know they’ll be so excited to get something brand new!)

Urban Decay Shadow “Bordello”

This was Ulta’s 2016 birthday gift, and I really don’t like the shade at all. This is way to purple and glittery for my taste, and I’m definitely not going to use it (but my sister-in-law will so I’m going to take it to her).

Burt’s Bees Original Lip Balm

I got this for Christmas and I was super excited to try it out, but I actually really hate the smell and taste of the original lip balm from Burt’s Bees. I wish that I liked this because I love that Burt’s Bees lip balms are all natural, but I just can’t get past the smell.

Pacifica Power of Love Lipstick “Nudie Red”

I got this lipstick in my December 2015 Ipsy and I was so excited about it! I used it like crazy right when I got it, but I haven’t worn it once in an entire year, so I think it’s time to go ahead and get rid of it. It’s also a SUPER dry formula, and now that I’ve branched out more in the matte lipstick world (looking at you ColourPop) I feel like there’s a lot better formulas out there, and the orange-pink color of this doesn’t suit me very well anyway.

PBJ Smoothie Stick Lip Crayon

This is another subscription service lip product that I feel like the color doesn’t quite suit me. I hardly ever reach for purple or berry toned lip products, and I would much rather wear my Stila “Patina” liquid lipstick when I’m going for that look than this slippery lip crayon from PBJ.

I hope you enjoyed this second installment of Makeup That I’m Getting Rid Of!! It’s always such a good feeling to do a nice purge of your collection, and I feel like all of the makeup I currently own has some breathing room now that these items are out of the way. Thank you so so much for stopping by and as always, I’ll see you next time!

ColourPop HAUL + First Impressions

I’m so excited to be sharing my first ever Colour Pop order with you today!! Colour Pop has been hyped up for years now, but I’ve never actually ordered anything from them until recently. I decided to get a variety of products to test everything out, and I’m so excited to share my first impressions with you today.

Creme Lippie Stix “Aquarius”

I really love the shade of this Lippie Stix, and I think this might be my favorite color of the three that I ordered. I like the formula of this one a lot too; it’s the perfect mix between the matte and the satin formula, and it’s very comfortable on the lips.
Matte Lippie Stix “Cookie”

This shade fits with the brown 90’s “Kylie Jenner” lip color trend that’s been super in for the last year. I don’t know how I feel about this particular shade on me, but the matte formula seems very comfortable for a matte lipstick, and I’m excited to play around with this shade a little bit and branch out of my comfort zone with it.

Satin Lippie Stix “Button”

The satin Lippie Stix formula feels a lot like a lip balm on the lips, and it’s definitely the most comfortable of all of the Lippie Stix that I got. The color is very natural while adding a small pop of coral, and I think this is the perfect “throw it in your purse and go” shade because it’s comfortable and adds just the perfect amount of color when you want to add a little something to your look that day.

Ultra Matte Lip “Midi”

Of course I couldn’t place a Colour Pop order without getting one of their famous Ultra Matte Lip liquid liptsicks. I got the shade “Midi” which is the perfect mauve neutral shade, and I’m super excited to try this out some more (and maybe get some brighter shades of this formula the next time I order from them)!

Super Shock Matte Blush “Between the Sheets”

The Super Shock texture is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. It’s not quite cream but also not quite powder. I really love the shade of this blush, and it’s so silky when I’ve swatched it. I definitely want to try one of their Satin blushes the next time I place an order because this matte blush is beautiful!!

Super Shock Metallic Shadow “I Heart This”

This is the most beautiful eyeshadow I’ve ever owned. This is so glittery and glam, and I’m so excited to use this metallic shade as a pop of glitter on my lid. Again, the Super Shock formula is so strange, and the shadow blends out to a powder but applies like a cream. I love that the glitter doesn’t have crazy fallout since it’s mixed into a cream formula, and I’m really loving this shadow. When I place my next order, I definitely want to get a champagne shade, a copper, and a shimmery “one shadow look” brown shade.

All in all, I absolutely love all of the items that I ordered. I’m definitely planning on purchasing more items from Colour Pop in the future (after I try out some of the things I got some more) . I think that you get a REALLY amazing value for your money, and these items are drugstore pricing while hands down being MUCH better quality than drugstore items. (I also love that these are made in the U.S.A. and you get free shipping on all $30 orders in the U.S. which makes it an even better value compared to most companies $50 free shipping requirement).

I hope you enjoyed seeing my very first Colour Pop order today! Thank you so much for stopping by by blog, and I’ll see you next time!
