January Favorites!

Hello lovelies! I hope your start to 2017 has been wonderful. Today I’m going to be sharing all of my favorite things from the month of January.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

I got the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette for Christmas, and I’ve used it every single day since I opened it. I absolutely love how neutral the shades are, and Too Faced’s eyeshadow formula is absolutely amazing! Every single shadow is buttery and blends wonderfully. I’ve been obsessed with this palette all month long.

Real Techniques Setting Brush

I’ve had my eye on this little brush for months now, and hubby surprised me with it for Christmas! I absolutely adore this for blending concealer and powder under my eyes. It’s such a soft, good quality brush and I’ve been using it nonstop all month long.

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

I’ve taken a break from this mascara for the last few months after I used up my last tube, but I recently went out and repurchased it again, and I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in the way that my lashes look now that I’m layering with this mascara again. This seriously makes my eyelashes look like falsies (cliche, I know. But I’m 1000% not exaggerating this. They actually look fake because of how voluminous this mascara makes them). I can’t believe I went so long without this, and it’s definitely a must-have in my collection. If you haven’t tried this mascara, you need to RUN to Target and pick it up.

Wet n Wild One Step Wonder Gel Polish “Stay Classy”

This nail polish shocked me the first time I used it. I absolutely loved the mauve pink shade, and the formula blew me away. It’s truly a “one coat” polish, and it’s crazy affordable too! I definitely recommend trying this line of polish out.

ELF Matte Lipstick “Natural”

I’ve been wearing this ELF Matte Lipstick in the shade “Natural” almost every single day this month. I absolutely love the “my lips but better” shades, and this formula is matte without being drying.

American Eagle Earrings

I got an American Eagle gift card for my birthday last month, so I ordered some earrings from them and I’m IN LOVE with them!!! They have the most adorable earring sets, and I’ve seriously been wearing every single pair of them nonstop.
What were some of your favorite products in January? Let me know in a comment. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

Wet n Wild One Step Wonder Gel Nail Polish Review!

Today I’m going to chat with you about a nail polish that I recently picked up at Target. I had a dollar store polish from L.A. Colors that I absolutely loved the color of, but the formula chipped super easily and I wanted to replace it with a more expensive, better quality polish of the same shade. I looked all over the nail polish isle and compared shades from Essie and OPI and couldn’t find a close enough match. I was going to call it quits until I saw this nail polish peeking out from the bottom shelf in the Wet n Wild isle! I grabbed it, and the rest is history.

When I first applied this polish, I was honestly SHOCKED at how pigmented it was. I only needed one coat to get full coverage on my nails, and even when I paint with Butter London polishes I have to go over the nail with at least two coats.

I also loved the shape of the brush, and it really applied polish to my whole nail in just one swipe.

I topped the polish with my Sally Hansen Miracle Gel top coat (review post right here) and was on my way.

This polish lasted about 5 days on me before I finally took it off to try out another polish. If you’re a nail polish fan, you’ll know how hard it is to find nail polish that lasts more than just a couple of days before you have to redo your nails (I will say that a little bit of wear on the tips of the nails is pretty normal, so 5 days of no chipping doesn’t actually mean that there were absolutely no chips).

I would definitely say that I highly recommend checking out these polishes, especially because they’re only $4 each!! This wore just as well as my OPI polishes do, and I’m so excited to go pick up some more colors.

What’s In My Shower? – My Favorite In-Shower Toiletries

I’ve got a different kind of post for you today, I’m going to be talking to you guys about what products I use in the shower! This is another post that has been inspired by YouTube, and I’ve been watching (and loving) these kind of videos for years. I’m so excited to talk about my favorite shower products with you, so let’s get right into it.

My current shampoo is the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal. I love the smell of this, and it does an amazing job cleaning my hair! This is the first time I’ve ever tried any haircare products from Pantene, and I’m definitely on the market for more of their products because of how much I’ve been loving this shampoo!

I absolutely love the Aussie Moist conditioner. It smells like coconut and is so moisturizing for my hair. This conditioner is the one that I always end up going back to over and over again, and I definitely recommend it to everyone!

I’ve been obsessed with the OGX In-Shower Oil for months now! You can mix this in with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, or really whatever you want. It adds extra moisture to the products that you regularly use (which I love because you don’t have to switch to a whole new set of products during the dry winter months when your skin and hair need extra moisture). I love mixing this in with my conditioner to bump up the moisturization.

About once or twice a week I like to do a deep conditioning treatment of some sort. I’ve been loving the Garnier Damage Eraser, but I’m not really very picky when it comes to deep conditioners (probably because I haven’t found a favorite yet).

I typically use any kind of Bath & Body Works shower gel that I have, but I’m really not picky at all when it comes to body wash. (To be completely honest, I would totally be using drugstore body washes right now if it wasn’t for me receiving more Bath & Body Works shower gel every couple of months from friends and family.)

I typically wash my face in the shower, and I absolutely love my Simple Moisturizing Facial Cleanser. It’s fragrance free and made with super minimal ingredients. It’s super gentle on my skin as well, and I love the whole Simple brand of skincare.

I love my GIlette Venus razors, and I’ve been buying them for years! I usually use conditioner instead of shaving cream which keeps my shower really minimal.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about what I’ve been using in the shower! Let me know in a comment down below what products you’ve been using in your shower lately and if you have any favorites I should check out. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!

Makeup That I’m Getting Rid Of – Makeup Declutter Series Part 1

I normally post decluttering blog posts on my second blog Home, Budget, Blog, but since this one is makeup related, I thought it fit better on my beauty blog (but if you like these kinds of posts, definitely go follow my lifestyle blog to see more of them in the future).

Today I’m going to be talking about makeup products that I’m getting rid of. I love minimizing and decluttering, and my makeup and toiletry collections are the easiest areas to declutter. I’m going to show you pictures of some of the items that I have set aside to pass on to someone else or items that I’ve thrown away because they’re old or expired. Let’s get into the decluttering!

Passing On

Fabuloso Toning Conditioner and Beauty Protector Toning Shampoo

If you saw my Why I Cancelled Birchbox  or my September Birchbox Unboxing, you’ll know that I was super annoyed when I got these products. I don’t color my hair anymore, and I haven’t ever colored it blonde, so a purple shampoo and conditioner is poinless for me. (Also the shampoo exploded in my box, so Birchbox sent me a replacement box which is why I have one shampoo and two conditioners).

Always Made With Love Hand Cream and Body Butter

I got these in a White Elephant gift exchange around the holidays, but if you’ve seen my second blog you’ll know that I’m trying to transition to more natural products with less harsh chemicals. Since these are kind of a generic gift set (and kind of a cheap brand) not only is the quality not so great, but they’re loaded with harsh (and cheap) chemicals, so I’m going to get rid of them. I have plenty of lotion anyway.

Misc. Makeup Brushes (ELF Eyeshadow C Brush, Vasanti Eyeshadow 2 Brush)
These are some random makeup brushes that I hardly ever use anymore (or haven’t used at all in the case of the Vassanti brush).

Temptu Liquid Bronzer

I got this product in a BoxyCharm and it’s way too dark for my skintone so I’m going to go ahead and give it to someone less pale than me.

Candy Cane Chapstick

This used to be my all time favorite lip balm, and since they only make it around the holidays, I bought 6 of them last year and have only used two of them all year so I’m going to go ahead and pass these two on before they expire so someone else can get some use out of them.

R+Co Dry Shampoo Paste

I mentioned this in a Birchbox Unboxing, but this really doesn’t work well with my hair. I’m hoping someone else can get this to work because it’s a super cool product.

Starlooks Liquid Lipstick

This is a Liquid Lipstick that I got in a BoxyCharm but I know that I’m never going to wear this shade so I’m going to go ahead and pass it on while it’s still new.

OFRA Metallic Liquid Lipstick

Another BoxyCharm liquid lipstick that is way too dark for my personal taste. I know someone will love this, just not me.

Hikari Eyeliner Pencil

This is a basic black retractable liner but I just prefer liquid liners these days, so I’m going to pass this one on to someone else.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil “Milk”

I’ve had this product for almost a year and have probably used it twice. It think it’s time to pass this to someone who will actually use it before it goes bad.

Pacifica Bronzer

This is another bronzer that is way too dark for me, and I hate using single eyeshadows so I’m going to just pass this on.

IBY Beauty Trio

I got this in a BoxyCharm and I feel like I have these exact shades in every single one of my palettes, so I’m going to pass this on to someone who owns less makeup than me.

Lip Product Samples (Trestique, Pixi, Tarte)

These are some lip product samples that I’ve received in ipsy and I know I’m never going to use. I’m giving these to my younger cousins to play around with.

Becca Ombre Nudes Palette

I got quite a bit of use out of this palette but I really don’t feel like I need it anymore. I have these colors in all of my other palettes, so I’m going to pass this one on (or toss it since it’s pretty well used, I haven’t decided yet).

Misc. Nail Polish (Joshik “Luxe” and Formula X “Huntress”)

I got these nail polishes from Ipsy and they’re both just a little bit darker than I typically wear, so I’m going to go ahead and pass them on.

Misc. Jewelry

I’ve got some more little pieces of jewelry that I don’t ever wear and I know that my younger cousins love getting stuff like this so I’m going to pass these on to them.

Previse Hydromilk Moisturizer

I got this moisturizer in a subscription box over a year ago. I’ve been trying to force myself to use it up but I really don’t like it. It expires in February 2017 so I’m finally letting myself just toss it. There’s still a lot left, but this doesn’t leave my skin feeling moisturized, it doesn’t smell good at all, and I don’t want to use it.

Senstetive Skin BB Cream

This is such a small sample that I doubt any of my friends or family will want this so I’m going to just go ahead and toss it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some items that I’ve decluttered from my collection and I’ll be passing on to friends and family members! I actually have a part two in the works RIGHT NOW (crazy how much makeup I have to get rid of, right?! I don’t know how it accumulates so quickly!), so definitely follow my blog so that you’ll see it when it comes out! Thank you all so so much for sticking with me through this crazy long post, and I’ll see you all next time!

January 2017 Ipsy Unboxing

Today I’m going to be unboxing my January ipsy bag! I peeked at my samples as soon as they became available on the ipsy app (shocker, I know) and this definitely isn’t my favorite month from ipsy. Not to mention that I didn’t receive it until the 18th of January! Let’s get into my samples for this month.

The theme for this month’s bag was “Metropolis” and the bag design is supposed to be inspired by skyscrapers. I’m not loving this month’s bag, but it’s definitely not the worst I’ve ever seen. I’d give this a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

The first item this month is a blush from Manna Kadar in the shade “Paradise”. This is a really fun bright color, and I’m really loving brighter blush for the winter time! (Also, I’d like to note that they wrapped this in bubble wrap which means they didn’t have to replace hundreds of broken units (looking at you Birchbox) check out my Why I Cancelled Birchbox  post to hear about that disaster and you’ll know why it’s a big deal that ipsy invests in bubble wrap to properly ship their items). I would give this sample 5 stars since I don’t have any complaints and I love that it’s a large sample.

Next up I have another teeny sample from theBalm. This time I got their Bahama Mama bronzer. I really wish theBalm would give a sample big enough to get a brush into! The only thing I can pick up this product with is an eyeshadow brush, and I always get super annoyed when they send blush and bronzer samples because there’s no way I can actually try out the product as what it’s intended to be used for. Get it together Balm Cosmetics! 3 stars for sending a higher end brand and the fact that this is a good eyeshadow color, but I’m not happy about it.

I have this Coffee + Coconut Lip Scrub from Jelly Pong Pong. This doesn’t smell as great as it sounds like it would, but it does a good job exfoliating your lips, which is what it’s meant to do. 4 stars.

Next up I have a loose pigment from Naked Cosmetics in the shade “Sunset”. I don’t typically reach for loose pigments or single shadows, but now that I have a sample of Too Faced’s Glitter Glue Primer, this might be something I’ll have to test out for special occasions to add a little bit of glam on a daily basis. 3 stars.

Lastly for this month I have a nail polish topcoat from Ciate London. I was kind of shocked to see that this was a full sized top coat! I’m super excited about this gel top coat, especially because my current one is running low. 5 stars from me.

This month’s bag got a total of 22 out of 30 stars. Not too shabby! Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got in this month’s ipsy!

The Best of Birchbox

Today I’m going to be talking about my favorite products I ever received from Birchbox. I did this same post for ipsy, so if you haven’t seen my Best of Ipsy post, go check it out! I was subscribed to Birchbox from January 2016 to September 2016, which means I got 45 different samples from them over 9 months. Let’s talk about all of my favorites.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Spray – January 2016 box

I loved this leave-in conditioner spray so much that I actually ended up purchasing the full size from the Birchbox store. I still use this product every time I get out of the shower, and I absolutely love the smell of it.

Whish Body Butter in Almond – January 2016 box

I absolutely adore the scent of the Almond Body Butter from Whish. The formula of their hand cream is super silky and creamy as well, and this is one of my favorite lotions I’ve ever received in a subscription box.

Corioliss Argan Conditioning Mask – February 2016 box

This product was my introduction to the deep conditioning world, and I haven’t stopped purchasing deep conditioners since. I absolutely loved everything about this hair mask, from the scent to how soft it left my hair feeling. I actually almost splurged the $40 that the full size costs because I loved what it did for my hair so much.

BORGHESE Fango Purificante Clay Cleanser – February 2016 box

This is still to this day my favorite cleanser sample that I’ve ever received in a subscription box. I was pretty sad when this sample ran out. I loved the scent, the consistency, and how clean it left my skin feeling (It also looked like magical sparkling unicorn spit, so there’s that too).

ModelCO Lip Lacquer “Creme Brulee” – May 2016 box

I absolutely HATE lip gloss. However, this ModelCo formula is absolutely amazing. I can’t stand the sticky feeling of typical lip glosses, but this one doesn’t feel sticky or slimy on my lips at all. I love the natural color of this gloss, and it blends right into the color of my lips while making it look like I just licked them for an hour. If I ever decide to purchase a lip gloss in the future, it’ll 110% be this one.

Benefit Gimme Brow – June 2016 box

Birchbox sent out a super mini sample of the Benefit Gimme Brow in June. I’ve purchased the Gimme Brow before when it was still the old formula, and I was super excited to try out the new formula when it launched. This was such an exciting sample to receive (especially because it’s a more expensive and well-known product)!

SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash Off – August 2016 box

This face scrub is my absolute favorite exfoliant that I’ve ever tried. I’m definitely planning on purchasing this full size. (If you want to see my full thoughts, check out my September Empties post).

Stila Matte About You Liquid Lipstick – August 2016 box

I absolutely love the Stilla Liquid Lipstick formula, and I was shocked to see such a high-end sample in Birchbox. The color is such a beautiful “just barely too dark to be nude” shade, and I love the way this wears on my lips. I’m totally going to buy the full size of this when my sample is gone, and I might even buy some other colors (hello go-to formula for a nice long lasting red lip).

Beauty Protector Protect & Oil – August 2016 box

I love pretty much everything from the Beauty Protector line (mostly because it all smells absolutely amazing), and I love using oil on the ends of my hair right when I get out of the shower. This is an awesome oil (and again, the smell is seriously like heaven).

I hope you enjoyed hearing all about my favorite products from Birchbox! What are some of your favorite products you’ve received in subscription boxes? Let me know in a comment down below! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara Review

I’m back with a quick review post today about the It Cosmetics Superhero mascara! This mascara has been super hyped up on YouTube, and today I’m going to be telling you whether or not this Mascara lived up to the hype for me. Let’s get into it!

I got a sample of this mascara in my September ipsy bag, and I’ve been using it pretty much daily during October, November, and December so this tiny tube is definitely on it’s last leg right now.

I really liked the wand shape, and I tend to lean more toward these traditional bristled wands than the more plastic-like rubber ones. This specific wand had kind of a twisted shape to it instead of just bristles all the way around, some of the bristles were a little bit longer in a spiral type shape all the way up the wand.

As far as the formula goes, this mascara was CRAZY CLUMPY when I started using it straight out of the tube. I had to layer this with another mascara to separate the lashes, and even then I had to be extremely careful with it to prevent clumps (usually I just had a bunch of clumps when I wore this. It was honestly pretty hard to control). As the mascara started to dry out, I didn’t have as many issues with the clumping as long as I paired it with another separating mascara.

The real problem I have with this mascara is when it’s in the drying phase. This flakes everywhere once it starts drying out!!! It makes my lashes look feathery and brittle, and I have such a hard time building up any volume with it because anything I layer on top just causes mascara flakes to rain down on my cheeks.

This mascara clings to itself big time if you happen to get any kind of water on it, too. Keep in mind that this is definitely not a waterproof (or water friendly) formula (and it doesn’t claim to be). But even if a mascara isn’t waterproof, you can still get away with getting it a little bit wet and it won’t look terrible. This mascara reacts horribly to any kind of water, so you’ll have one giant lash if someone splashes you or you start tearing up.

Overall, I didn’t love this mascara. There was about a week in between it being super wet and it starting to dry out that I understood the hype around it, but the whole rest of the time I used it I was mostly just super frustrated with it. I would say that this is a solid 4 out of 10 for me, and I definitely wouldn’t ever pay the $24 price tag for a full sized tube of this.

I hope you enjoyed this quick review post of the It Cosmetics Superhero mascara! Have you tried this one? Did you like it? Is the full sized tube better than the sample size? Let me know in a comment down below! Thank you so much for stopping by, I’ll see you again next time!!!
