Monthly Archives: December 2016

December Favorites

Today I’ve got a short post sharing all of the things that I’ve been obsessed with during the month of December! I had an amazing Christmas and birthday this year, and I’ve been loving the cold weather and snow. Let’s get into my favorite products of the month!

Fresh Sparkling Snow Shea Body Cream

This is my favorite winter scent, and Bath & Body Works definitely has the best body cream formula! I put this on every morning when I put on my wedding ring, and my hands have stayed soft and smooth even during the dry winter months.

Revlon Colorstay + Maybelline Shine Free

This has been my holy grail foundation/powder duo since summertime, and I’m still loving it 6 months later. This keeps my super oily skin at bay, and I love how flawless my face looks with this duo.

Nivea – A Kiss of Mint and Minerals lip balm

I use this every morning when I’m doing my makeup, and I love that this is minty without being Peppermint flavored or tingly. This is definitely the best mint lip balm I’ve ever used, and I love that this is just lightweight and smooth on my lips in the morning.

Luxie 205 Tapered Blending brush and Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush

This is the most amazing eyeshadow brush duo I’ve ever used! I love using the Luxie brush for applying a light base all over and using the Real Techniques brush to apply my crease color. These brushes are both super affordable as well, and I definitely recommend trying them out.

I hope you enjoyed my super short December favorites! I’ve been using a lot of the same stuff this month that I mentioned in my November favorites, but I got tons of new goodies for Christmas that I can’t wait to talk about in my January favorites so stay tuned! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I wish you nothing but the best moving into 2017!!

Products I’ve Used Up – December Empties!

Today I’ve got a whole bunch of mini reviews for you on all of the products that I’ve used up during the month of December! These are my favorite type of posts to read at the end of the month, and I love that you guys seem to love these monthly empties posts too! Without further ado, let’s get right on into the products.

Bonvivant Botanical Mask Pack “Collagen + Olive

I got three of these sheet masks in my November ipsy, and I finally got around to using up the last one. This mask was awesome! It smelled fresh and clean and the mask itself was coated in a lotion type texture instead of the clear sticky gel that sheet masks usually come in. I actually really liked this mask, and I would totally buy it!

Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Toner

I bought this toner on Cassie’s (ThriftThick on YouTube) recommendation, and I really did like it. It smelled very nice and I felt like it really cleaned my skin. However, I probably won’t repurchase this because I found out that the ingredients in here really aren’t that good for your skin, and I’m trying to transition to more natural products that don’t have harsh chemicals in them. (I have a whole post about transitioning to Going Green on my second blog, “Home, Budget, Blog” that you can go check out to see what I end up replacing this with if you’re interested.)

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

If you’ve been following along with my Finish 5 by Winter Project Pan, you’ll know that I finished up this concealer. I like this one just fine, but I won’t be repurchasing it for a while because I definitely want to try out some other concealers before I go back to it.

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara

If you’ve seen any of my past Empties posts, you’ll know that I absolutely love this mascara, and you’ll also know that it dries out very very quickly. I finished up another tube of it, and I’m planning on running out to buy another one soon (I have a bunch of sample size mascara tubes to go through before I buy this one again).

Aurora Intensively Precise Eyeliner

I finally finished up this waterproof eyeliner from Aurora. I got this in a subscription box, and I liked it but I didn’t think it was very different from my typical Maybelline Master Precise liner, so I probably wouldn’t buy this again.

It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara

I finished up this mascara sample that I got in my September ipsy, and I have a review post on this that should be out in a couple of weeks. To summarize, I didn’t love this mascara.

Too Faced Hangover RX Primer – Foil Packet

I finally got around to using this Too Faced foil packet sample. This is my favorite face primer, so of course I would buy the full size of this.

Pure Brazilian Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

I got this leave in conditioner spray in my October ipsy bag, and I really liked it. I wouldn’t necessarily buy this product, but I did enjoy using it while I had it.

Soap & Glory “The Righteous Butter” Sample

I don’t even want to admit how long I’ve had this product for. I love using this all over my body after I shower, and this is my go-to moisturizer for my legs after I shave. I definitely want to buy another one of these, but I’ll be sticking to the mini size of it for sure because this stuff takes forever to finish up.

Whish Body Butter “Almond”

I got this lotion in a Birchbox back when I was still subscribed to them, and I really loved the scent of this. I would buy the full size for sure.

Zoe & Zac Naturals “Vanilla Pink Citrus” body spray

We used this as a bathroom spray, and this worked better than Febreze spray. This stuff smelled amazing and the scent was really strong and wonderful.

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Candle

I thought I would like this candle from Bath & Body Works a lot more than I actually did. I wanted a sweeter pumpkin smell for fall, and this one had a very spicy smell to it that left me with a headache. I definitely won’t be buying this scent again.

Dove White Bar Soap

I finished up the bar of soap that I use to wash my makeup brushes with. (I have a whole blog post about how I wash my makeup brushes that you should definitely check out!)

That’s all for this month’s empties! I didn’t finish too many things this time around, but I prefer a shorter empties post to the long ones I’ve had the last couple of months anyway. I hope you enjoyed this post, and thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!

What I Got for Christmas 2016

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) and I’m here today to do a quick Christmas Haul!! I’ve been watching these videos religiously on YouTube for 7 or 8 years now and they’re definitely my favorite kind of video to go back and rewatch around the holidays when I’m making my Christmas list. (This is where everyone adds the disclaimer about how this kind of post is not meant to come across as bragging and acknowledge how grateful they are for everything they received. Ditto to that.) Let’s get into this year’s gifts!!

My husband got me an adorable Mickey ornament (we went to Disneyland together for the first time in May of this year, so the ornament is to remind us of the trip), some Method foaming hand soap that I’ve been begging for (if you want to see a review of Method’s cleaning products, go check out my other blog Home, Budget, Blog for lifestyle posts like that), a new Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in the shade “Blonde”, and a new Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer in the shade “Ivory”. Oh, and a crap ton of candy.

In my stocking from my in-law’s I got some Aloe santa socks, a new Beauty Blender, some deep conditioner from Garnier, and a lotion and body wash set from Bath & Body Works. We all got Whoppers, Sixlets, Life Savers, Kit Kats, and a bunch of Reese’s as well. We ended up with a small gift bag filled to the top with candy between my husband and I (which I didn’t get a picture of because it was all mostly eaten by the time I could take pictures lol).

I got a new copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because our old copy was scratched (we’re the biggest Harry Potter nerds).

I got tons of makeup from my husband this year! He got me the L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara, a set of Burt’s Bees lip balm, the Real Techniques Setting Brush, Too Faced blush in “Love Hangover”, and and the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette (reviews to come).

I used to set up a Christmas village with my grandpa every year growing up, and my sweet husband bought me my very first village piece this year! I’m so excited to keep my collection going and we decided to make it a tradition for him to get me a new piece for my village every year.

My sister-in-law got me three Harry Potter books “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay”, “Quidditch Through the Ages”, and “The Tales of Beetle the Bard”. My mother-in-law also got me a Harry Potter adult coloring book and some colored pencils to go with it (she got all of the girls different adult coloring books this year!). I loved all of these gifts because Harry Potter is my favorite!

We also got Joking Hazard (think Cards Against Humanity but cartoon strip style instead of Apples to Apples style) and Disney Family Feud (the whole family loves Disney and board games so this was a hit on Christmas Day).

My mother-in-law also got me two tops and two pairs of black leggings that are all super soft and comfortable!

We also got a beautiful wooden nativity scene (which I forgot to take a picture of, fail), new bed sheets, a huge thing of shampoo, a super nice knife set, a crockpot, a crockpot recipe magazine, a book about marriage, a family photo from Disneyland, and an awesome electronic charging station.

Cash, Gift Cards, Etc.

We got a very generous cash gift from my in-law’s as well, and my mom sent us some cash too! My dad sent us some gift cards for Christmas and my birthday, and of course there was the typical cash gift from my grandparents as well.

Christmas 2016 was one of the best I’ve ever had, and my in-law’s definitely spoiled the heck out of my hubby and I! I’m so incredibly grateful for every single gift I got, and I really hope you enjoyed seeing everything I was given this year!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Starting a New Blog!

I’m so excited to announce that I’ve started a new blog here on WordPress!! I’ve loved doing Disney Wife, but when I started it up, it wasn’t supposed to be a beauty blog at all (hence why the name is Disney Wife and not something makeup related lol). I’ve had so much fun doing the beauty blogging, but I also have a passion for more than just makeup. I love home decor and cleaning, decluttering and organizing, and budget and finances as well. Ever since Disney Wife started gaining more and more followers who loved my beauty related content, I’ve felt like all of my other interests needed a different home.

I’m so excited to be launching my new lifestyle blog over at Home, Budget, Blog!! Definitely follow me over there if you’re interested in seeing decluttering, organizing, cleaning, home decor, recipe, budget/finance, and money saving tips posts! (As well as marriage advice, pregnancy posts, and children/family related posts in the next several years when we start our family!)

I’m so grateful for all of you who have liked and commented on my posts as well as followed my blog here on Disney Wife, and I can’t wait to see you all over on Home, Budget, Blog to talk about a whole new set of topics! Thank you all so much for your love and support over the last few months! XOXO

Finish 5 by Winter Finale & Wrap-Up

Today I’m going to be sharing my finale of my Finish 5 by Winter Project Pan! I wish I had another month with these products, because I would definitely be able to finish more of them by then, but I’m happy with the progress I’ve been able to make in the last month. If you missed the past posts for this project, catch up on the IntroUpdate #1, and Update #2 before seeing the finale!!

Makeup Forever N9 Lipstick

As you can see, I didn’t end up finishing this lipstick. I made quite the little dent in it, but I wish I would’ve been a little more dedicated to this product throughout the project. I’m definitely including this in my Products to Use Up in 2017 challenge though, so stay tuned for that.

Anastasia DipBrow Pomade

Im so pleased with how much of this I’ve used, and I don’t think the picture really does this one justice. There’s so little product left, I’d probably barely be able to make it another month with this guy. I’m definitely happy with tossing the rest of this since I’ll have a shiny new jar waiting for me on Christmas morning.

Nivea Lip Butter

I got so close to finishing this product up, but as I’ve said, I have another newer one of these sitting at my bedside table right now, so I’m definitely going to just toss this one (it’s hella old anyway).

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Stick

This is another one that I got so close to finishing, and I think with another couple weeks I definitely could have this gone.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

And last but not least, I finished up my Maybelline Age Rewind concealer!! I’m happy to have this gone so that I can go out and buy a new one! Tarte Shape Tape here I come (if I can ever find it in stock)!

I hope you guys have enjoyed this Project Pan! I’m so excited to start up my “Products to Use Up in 2017” soon! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

December BoxyCharm Unboxing!

I’m here unboxing my December BoxyCharm for you today. This month’s theme is “Makeup on Pointe” and I love the beautiful ballet theme all of their Instagram pictures have had this month. Let’s get into the products!

Pure Cosmetics Buff Collection Palette

This is supposed to be a dupe for the Naked 3 palette, but I honestly think this palette seems kinda cheap. The packaging is flimsy, the brush isn’t very good quality, and the mirror is like looking in a Fun House mirror because of how warped looking it is.

Finger swatches

Brush swatches

The finger swatches look pretty good, but the brush swatches tell a whole different story. This palette retails for $50.00, but I wouldn’t even pay $20 for it.
IBY Beauty liner “Cocoa”

This is supposed to be a lip liner, but I personally would only use it for my eyes. Unfortunately, the only kind of liner I like is black liquid liner, so I won’t be keeping this. It retails for $14.00.

OFRA Metallic Liquid Lipstick “Napa Valley”

I don’t like metallic lips and this dark purple just isn’t wearable. I’m definitely not keeping this one. It retails for $19.90.

Makeup Eraser Mini

This is a tiny size of the Makeup Eraser (if you’ve seen my How I Remove My Makeup Using Only Water post, I use something very similar to this every day).

Unfortunately, this is really really mini and I don’t know that I would be able to remove a full face of makeup very easily with this.

Butter London Nail Polish “Ruby Murray”

This is probably the only thing in this month’s box that I’ll actually get any use of. This is a beautiful dark red color, and I can’t wait to paint my nails with it.

So that was this month’s BoxyCharm, and I’ve got to admit that I’m pretty unimpressed with it. The total value was $110.90, but the value of products I actually like barely make up for the price I paid for the box. What did you get in your BoxyCharm this month? Thanks so much for stopping by!!

December Ipsy Unboxing!

I’ve got my December ipsy bag for you today! When I saw the sneak peek of what I was getting, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with this month’s samples. But I’m happy to say that as soon as I got the bag in the mail and looked through them, I was stoked about everything I got!!

I’m not a huge fan of this month’s bag. I think it would’ve been so much cuter if it wasn’t fuzzy and it had a little bit better quality strap that matched the purse instead of the bright pink metallic strap.

The first item this month is a black liquid liner from Hikari. If you’ve seen any of my past subscription unboxings, you’ll know that I love getting basic black liquid liner in my subscriptions because I know it’ll get used up eventually.

Next up is a mint lip balm from the brand Jersey Shore Cosmetics. I love that these lip balms are organic, and I love the minty tingle this gives my lips.

I was pretty unsure about this Ofra highlighter/shadow, but after using it to highlight my inner corner and all over my lid, I’m happy to say that I absolutely adore this color. It’s super brightening and pigmented, and the pan itself is huge!

Next I got an awesome sample from Smashbox. This is a mattifying lipstick transforming gel. I used this on top of one of my favorite nude lipsticks (Rimmel Airy Fairy) and I was shocked that this stuff actually made it matte! I’m so excited to try this on all of my other lipsticks.

The last sample this month is this amazing blush palette from City Color Cosmetics. There are three huge pans of matte blush in here! When I saw my bag’s sneak peek at the beginning of the month, I thought this was going to either be a cardboard sampler or have only one of the three colors. I’m so happy that I was wrong! The shades in here are “Fresh Melon”, “Blackberry”, and “Guava” and I’ve been loving all three of them! These are a lot brighter than my typical nude rosy color, so it’s been fun to branch out a little bit with these.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got in this month’s ipsy!! Let me know if you got any of the same samples as me, and as always, thanks so much for stopping by!
